Trade and Commodity Finance
Enjoying a strategic location in Geneva, Europe's leading commodity trading centre, our Trade & Commodity Finance department brings together Credit Europe Bank's long-standing expertise in financing energy, metals and agricultural commodities.
With more than 30 years of continuous commitment to these markets, this work is at the heart of our strategy, and its development is facilitated by our permanent team of experts at our Geneva headquarters. All of the team work closely together for a responsive approach (the front office, treasury, documentary credits, compliance, credit analysis and ESG experts): our decision-making process is one of the fastest among influential players in Trade & Commodity Finance. In our view, this is a fundamental asset to support our growth strategy!
Our approach to country risk (economic, political, social, health, climate, etc.) corresponds to the commodity trading industry's geographic scope. We are therefore able to offer traditional and structured financing solutions in both developed and emerging markets.
Our team is aware that each player across the entire supply chain (production, processing, marketing, etc.) has specific financing needs. This is why we strive to offer each of our clients tailored solutions. These solutions revolve around four funding models:
- Transactional
- Hedging
- Borrowing base
- Performance risk
Our tailor-made financing solutions are also supported by our efficient and professional document team who give our clients access to a full range of financing tools, such as import and export letters of credit, documentary collections, guarantees and standby letters of credit (SBLC).
At Credit Europe Bank, environmental and social responsibility is an integral part of our strategy. In line with our new ESG policy, we are actively engaging in the transition to sustainable development, regularly assessing the risks associated with our activities in this sector and advising our clients on how to manage their responsibilities linked to ESG criteria.
Energy
Our expertise in this area allows us to finance the transport of crude oil, its derivatives and petrochemical products through issuing letters of credit, SBLCs, or by granting prepayments to producers. Our platform has the ability to create synergies between our clients, major refineries, oil companies, logistics providers and brokers.
Metals
We offer commercial enterprises financing solutions for ferrous and non-ferrous metals – including base metals, iron and steel – covering all logistical stages ashore, in port and after shipment.
Agricultural Commodities (AC)
Drawing on our vast experience in importing and exporting countries, we are active in the financing of cereals, soya, tropical products (sugar, cotton, coffee, cocoa) and edible oils.
